Vaquero Day is a cherished tradition at UTRGV Harlingen Collegiate High, born from the incredible partnership between HCISD and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). Every August, we celebrate our Junior students as they embark on their collegiate journey with UTRGV at the start of the Fall semester. This event honors their academic achievements and marks their transition into full-fledged college students while still enrolled at Harlingen Collegiate High. During the celebration, representatives from UTRGV and HCISD congratulate the students as they sign a collegiate banner, which is then proudly displayed at our school. Vaquero Day is a vibrant and memorable event that ushers our students into their college journey, symbolizing their hard work, dedication, and bright futures ahead.
"A Walk to Remember - Ringing of the Owl Bell" is a treasured tradition at UTRGV Harlingen Collegiate High, celebrated every year before our Seniors graduate. This tradition was initiated by Principal Pamela Flores as a tribute to the hard work and dedication our Seniors have shown to reach this milestone. It also serves as a way for them to reminisce about the good times they've had on campus and to look forward to the promising future ahead. During this heartfelt event, seniors walk through the school until they reach the Owl Bell at the entrance, ringing it to signify their achievements while the entire school, gathered in the Grand Commons, cheers them on. Following this, they exchange hugs and handshakes with their teachers, bidding them a fond farewell and then watch their Senior Video full of all of their memories at HCH. This is arguably one of our favorite traditions at HCH, as it beautifully honors our students' accomplishments and provides them with a memorable way to say goodbye to their school.

The End of Year Celebration at UTRGV Harlingen Collegiate High is a beloved tradition that marks the culmination of another successful academic year. This festive event brings together students from all grade levels in our Grand Commons to share a meal and celebrate their collective achievements. After enjoying lunch, students eagerly anticipate the Perfect Attendance raffle, which features an array of exciting prizes. This past year, the grand winner proudly took home a PS5! The End of Year Celebration not only highlights our students' accomplishments but also fosters close friendships across grade levels, showcasing the unity that defines our campus. It is a joyous occasion that leaves everyone looking forward to the future with positivity and pride.
